A number of organizations have been formed in Missouri to optimize the interactions and synergies among stakeholders in the life sciences sector, including:
• The Governor's Advisory Council for Plant Biotechnology. The advisory council analyzes the state's life sciences environment and advices Governor Matt Blunt on how the state can better capitalize on the industry's potential and improve its recruitment and regulatory policies.
• The Missouri Technology Corporation was created by the Missouri General Assembly in 1994 and is charged by law with being a focal point for leading the state's efforts in technology based economic development and for enhancing the system for transferring new discoveries into the marketplace in order to create companies and high tech jobs for Missourians.
• The BioGenerator, a not-for-profit entity, whose mission is to accelerate the commercialization of plant and life science technologies within the St. Louis region by providing funding and management support to pre-company innovations and pre-seed stage companies.
• KCSourceLink, a program of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the UMKC connects a network of 140 nonprofit resource organizations that provide business-building services for small businesses in the Kansas City region.
• The Missouri Biotechnology Association is a nonprofit trade association dedicated to development and growth of the Missouri biotechnology and biomedical industry.
